Clinical Data Registry Data Entry System

The client provides a service to help its hospital clients collect data to be sent to national health care registries covering heart catheterization lab procedures, patients suspected of having strokes, and so on. Each registry has vastly different data entry values and validation rules. The staff at the facilities have been recording these values on paper forms and then transmitting them to the registries. However, paper forms get lost and mangled and the hospitals are unable to make use of the data for internal reporting purposes.

Solution

Each registry defined datasets with SQL Server/stored procedure-based validation rules that could change with each version. The automated system we built replaced the paper forms that healthcare providers completed by hand. The system was built using ASP.NET/Visual Studio 2010, SQL Server 2008, WCF/Ajax, and a series of JavaScript client-side frameworks including handlebars, knockout.js, and the Twitter bootstrap framework.

This project ran from January 2012 - December 2012  as part of my full-time employment with a local consulting company.
